In this layout the traffic flow is circular, from the front door through the living room to the dining room to the breakfast area and family room and then back to the foyer. The kitchen connects to the garage through the utility/laundry.
This is extremely important. Think about your site and how the plan should be oriented on it to make the best use of outdoor space and sunshine/shade. It shows how the house wraps around the yard containing large deck and pool. You can see how the main living space and master suite connect to this outdoor space.
You can see in the drawing below that doors are drawn as thin rectangles and may include an arc to indicate the swing direction. Pocket doors are drawn as thin rectangles that disappear into walls. The increasingly popular sliding or “barn” doors are drawn partially open alongside a wall. Windows are breaks in walls crossed by thin lines showing the glass and the frame. Swinging windows (casements) may show a line or an arc to indicate the direction that the window opens.
This home has a gracious, open plan with a large, two story living area that opens up completely to the outside with a massive folding door to the covered porch and screened porch. It is perfect for entertaining and with large expanses of glass in the bedroom and living room areas, it would work well on a lake, ocean or view lot. The plan features a main level master suite, large dining room and a loft office/guest suite with its own bathroom.
